The National Business Accreditation Council (NBEAC) successfully organized a seminar on “Re-Accreditation Process”. The seminar was conducted through Video Conference facility on April 09th 2015, Thursday at HEC-Islamabad, Regional Centre Lahore, Karachi and Quetta. The purpose of this seminar was to provide an awareness session for Deans/ HoDs of Business Schools that need to apply for re-accreditation. Dr. Zahoor Hassan Syed, Professor LUMS, Dr. Sadia Nadeem, Associate Professor, FAST nu, Islamabad and Dr. Zaki Rashidi, Associate Professor, SZABIST, Karachi were the evaluators who chaired the session.
HoDs and focal persons of 13-15 institutes participated through Video Conference at HEC-ISB, LHR, KHI, IMSciences, IBA Sukkur, IQRA KHI, IoBM, ISRA and BUITEMS. Around 40 plus members attended the seminar through video conferencing nationwide. It was decided that the Re-accreditation reports can be submitted to NBEAC in June-July 2015. But it was recommended to provide sufficient time over the summer 2015 to Business Schools for completing SARs and CIRs. It was identified that the purpose of reaccreditation is to assess the accomplishments of institution as per peer review report provided at the time of accreditation. Larger focus of the PRP team for re-accreditation would be on improvements and changes since last visit. The process would start from the submission of Self-Assessment Report along with the Continuous Improvement Report (CIR) six months before the accreditation period expires. There is no need of submitting datasheet again.
After deliberation on policy by Dr. Zahoor, Dr.Sadia and Dr. Zaki, question and answer session was held. Discussion was held on different context of business education at different locations. Dr. Zahoor briefed that context is already included in the process. However access to industry varies w.r.t the stakeholders. The School must have connection with the local industry. The process would remain same as far as the context/ location is concerned. It was recommended to create awareness amongst different stakeholders including students. Institutions should connect a regional and National level for student exchange programs. It was suggested by Dr. Zahoor to look for institution who could provide benefit from unique ideas. Institutions should start interactions to create better impact, to achieve the true spirit of accreditation process. The 2nd Deans and Directors report will be distributed by 20th April 2015 to all registered participants and panelists.
