Objectives/ Purpose:

The strategic planning process help the business school understand the essence of a locally and globally competitive marketplace. The procedure assist the institutions build a strong understanding of the key business and management principles. Also, the process help the school develop a rigorous, relevant, rewarding and competitive degree programs, executive education courses, research, consulting, linkages and community outreach enterprises.

Course Contents:

  1. Essential features of a strategic plan.
  2. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for a business school.
  3. The value of ethics, social responsibility, organizational efficiency and decision making.
  4. Planning for people, processes, priorities and progress
  5. Strategic audits of some sample “Business School” strategic plans.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Learn to design, develop and implement the “Business School” strategy.
  2. Review the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats and resource requirements of the school in the context of the current economic and managerial environment.
  3. Recognize the value of incorporating ethics, social responsibility, organizational efficiency and decision making framework for strategic priorities.
  4. Perform strategic audits of plans to redesign performance measures to improve strategic implementation.

Transfers, Refunds & Replacement:

  1. Replacement
    Replacement of participant from same business school is possible. However, 10% addition in the registration fee will be charged to participant in case of replacement .
  2. Transfer
    It is possible to transfer deposited fee to any open registration of upcoming workshop within 3 months. In case the participant or sponsoring business school fails to claim the fee within 3 months, the deposited fee will be forfeited.
  3. Cancellation
    In case of cancellation, half fee will be refunded, to cover the administrative costs. If a participant would like to cancel their name from a workshop they are required to notify in writing and should also call for confirmation.

Notes:

  1. Workshop/Seminar Registration Fee: 25,000 /-PKR.
  2. In case of replacements, transfer and refund, participant should officially notify via email/letter to NBEAC 10 working days prior to the workshop. After that NBEAC will not entertain any claims and changes.
  3. NBEAC may cancel or postpone a workshop/program due to insufficient registration or unforeseen** circumstances. In this case, NBEAC will refund registration fee but will not be responsible for any other related expenses including cancellation charges by airline and travel agencies.
  4. In case of postponement, the fee may be transferred to the rescheduled offering of that workshop or any other workshop as an alternate to refund. The NBEAC reserves the right to make changes in its program policies and fees at any time.

** If unforeseen circumstances occurs during the workshop and one day before the scheduled workshop, NBEAC will not refund the registration fee.

NBEAC successfully organized a two day workshop at UMT, Lahore held on 1st -2nd August on the topic of Strategic Planning of a Business School for the dire purpose of enhancing the strategic planning of a business school to understand the realities of local and global market and how to deal with them. It urges the institutes to develop certain key business and management principles along with the fact to develop a beneficial degree program which itself is rigorous and competitive in nature so that better results can be achieved.

Aspects were discussed broadly relating to designing a strategic plan according to the essential features of a strategic planning and reviewing it according to the requirements and current needs as well as the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats along with recognizing the value of social responsibility, ethics, organizational efficiency and decision making and incorporating them to the system.

The workshop was attended by 35 participants and it involved the discussion regarding the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of Local Business Schools, Approval Process and Bodies, Brain Storming for Strategic Plan, Participants feedback on Strategic Plans, Reviewing and Adjusting Strategic Plan and Feedback Session of Participants

The consultants for this workshop were Dr. Zaki Rashidi, Director ORIC & Associate Dean Accreditation, (Iqra University, Karachi) and Dr. Tashfeen Azhar, Professor (University of Management & Technology, Lahore) who are among the top pioneers of strategy making policy.

Day 1 of the workshop consist of 4 sessions comprising of Understanding Strategic Plan of Business School, Process of Strategic Planning, Preparing Strategic Plan of B School and Feedback on Business Plans under the banner of these topics many corresponding elements were discussed along with the feedback session in the last session was observed.

Day 2 of the workshop had two sessions, focused on Refining Strategic Plan and Reviewing Exercise of Strategic Plan, in these sessions areas related to brainstorming were addressed along with the particulars of refining a strategic plan.
