Workshop- “Accreditation/ Reaccreditation(A way Forward for continuous improvement)” 

Purpose:

The workshop is designed to share an understanding of the spirit of NBEAC accreditation/reaccreditation, and to provide in-depth guidance on how to complete the different steps of the NBEAC accreditation process successfully. The workshop is carefully designed to cater to the needs of business schools pursuing either first time accreditation or proceeding for re-accreditation/re-visit. The focus of this workshop will be on the resolution of tactical and operational issues and more importantly their alignment with the strategic objectives, vision and mission of the business school during the whole process of accreditation.

Course Contents:

  1. Understanding the philosophy of accreditation/reaccreditation life cycle.
  2. Conceptual learning of NBEAC standards and aligning them with practices.
  3. Discussing the registration application form and the nine proformas of the SAR.
  4. Raising awareness on mentorship programs and how a business school can benefit from mentorship.
  5. Leadership engagement, and building a team for accreditation.
  6. Critical elements of a successful peer review visit.
  7. Philosophy and challenges of continuous improvement review.

Learning Outcomes:

The participants will develop an understanding of the followings by the end of this workshop:

  1. Develop an in-depth understanding of the accreditation/reaccreditation process
  2. Improve the ability to compile NBEAC required documentations such as registration application, SAR, CIR and appendices etc.  
  3. Enhance knowledge of documents required during peer review visit
  4. Refine the capability to arrange and manage an efficient peer review visit

Who Should Attend:

The workshop is designed for those business schools involved in process of accreditation/ reaccreditation. It is relevant for Deans, Associate Deans, HoDs, NBEAC focal persons, and In-charge of accreditation.

Prerequisties:

Participants must already possess a good working knowledge of the NBEAC process, which requires at the very minimum the careful study of the NBEAC documents (Registration Application, Screening Policy, SARs, Standards and Criteria Annexes) before arriving in Islamabad.

Day 1: 13th Sep 2018

Session 1

·        NBEAC accreditation life cycle

·        NBEAC basic eligibility criteria and registration application

·        Engagement of internal stakeholders and composition of accreditation team

·        Ways to leverage accreditation for excellence

·        Discussion on NBEAC standards  

o   Understanding the philosophy of NBEAC through the NBEAC standards

o   Using NBEAC standards for capacity building of business schools

o   Preparing for the accreditation process according to the standards

o   Alignment of standards with SARs

·        Discussion of SAR forms and appendices

·        Guidance on preparing SARs and supporting documents

·        Time management techniques to efficiently complete the accreditation process

o   Discussion on objectives, purpose and key outcomes of the mentorship program

o   Types of mentorship

o   Discussion on key responsibilities of the mentee i.e. the business school

Transfers, Refunds & Replacement:

  1. Replacement
    Replacement of participant from same business school is possible. However, 10% addition in the registration fee will be charged to participant in case of replacement .
  2. Transfer
    It is possible to transfer deposited fee to any open registration of upcoming workshop within 3 months. In case the participant or sponsoring business school fails to claim the fee within 3 months, the deposited fee will be forfeited.
  3. Cancellation
    In case of cancellation, half fee will be refunded, to cover the administrative costs. If a participant would like to cancel their name from a workshop they are required to notify in writing and should also call for confirmation.

Notes:

  1. Workshop/Seminar Registration Fee: 40,000 /-PKR.
  2. In case of replacements, transfer and refund, participant should officially notify via email/letter to NBEAC 10 working days prior to the workshop. After that NBEAC will not entertain any claims and changes.
  3. NBEAC may cancel or postpone a workshop/program due to insufficient registration or unforeseen** circumstances. In this case, NBEAC will refund registration fee but will not be responsible for any other related expenses including cancellation charges by airline and travel agencies.
  4. In case of postponement, the fee may be transferred to the rescheduled offering of that workshop or any other workshop as an alternate to refund. The NBEAC reserves the right to make changes in its program policies and fees at any time.

** If unforeseen circumstances occurs during the workshop and one day before the scheduled workshop, NBEAC will not refund the registration fee.

NBEAC has successfully organized a workshop on “Accreditation/Reaccreditation (A way forward for continuous improvement)” in Bahria University, Islamabad on 13th-14th September 2018. The workshop was designed to share an understanding of the spirit of NBEAC accreditation/reaccreditation, and to provide in-depth guidance on how to complete the different steps of the NBEAC accreditation process successfully. The focus of this workshop was on the resolution of tactical and operational issues ad more importantly their alignment with the strategic objectives, vision and mission of the business schools during the whole process of accreditation.

The workshop was attended by 35 participants representing different business schools all over Pakistan having a proper mix of public and private institute. A detailed discussion was carried out regarding the issues and challenges of accreditation faced by their institutions. The consultants for this workshop were Dr. Sadia Nadeem, (Dean, FAST School of Management, FAST-NU, Islamabad) and Dr. Asfia Obaid(Head of Department, NUST Business School, NUST, Islamabad) who are well-versed with the accreditation process, being NBEAC’s senior peer reviewers.

Day 1 of the workshop consisted of three main sessions along with sub-sessions comprising of the philosophy of accreditation and reaccreditation/revisit along with the discussion on basic eligibility criteria and registration application, discussion on NBEAC standards and guidance on how to prepare and document the forms and appendices required by NBEAC.

Day 2 of the workshop comprised of three sessions, focused on Mentorship, continuous improvement report and feedback session.

About NBEAC

NBEAC has three main functions: accreditation, training and networking. In its accreditation function, it develops and implements standards to improve the quality of business education in Pakistan. In its training function, it provides opportunities to faculty and managers to learn about quality standards and related matters. In its networking function, it provides a forum for business education professionals to learn from each other through conferences and seminars.
