Online Training - “NBEAC Quality Standards 1 to 9” 

Introduction:

NBEAC Training and Development Wing (TDW)  is pleased to announce an online workshop based on three(3) sessions (on three different days) on “NBEAC Quality Standards” via Zoom. This workshop is designed by experienced peer reviewers and trainers, in order to address the issues of the Business Schools in accreditation process and improve their understanding regarding accreditation standards and criteria. In this workshop the trainers will share the expectations peer reviewers and NBEAC from a Business school during the whole accreditation process. The trainers will focus on the standards and criteria which are important for the quality enhancement of the business schools. A combination of peer learning and guidance by the trainers will help Business Schools to identify ways to improve and maintain their quality of education.

Objectives & Learning Outcomes: (Session 1 on 29th Oct, 2020)

The workshop participants shall be able to understand the NBEAC requirements from Business Schools to have 1-Well-crafted policies 2-Objective oriented practices 3-Impact measurement arrangements and 4- Systems for corrective actions.

Course Objectives:

    1. Establish essential features of a strategic plan, faculty development and research & development.
    2. Discuss Performa 1, 4 and 5 of NBEAC standard of Strategy, Faculty and Research & Development
    3. Review the impact of strategy on the development of a “Business School”
    4. The central role of the faculty and the impact of faculty on the students, business school brand and society.
    5. Developing a research culture and enhancing research productivity


Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand the role of Strategy, Faculty Development and develop a Research Culture within a “Business School;”
  2. Develop a clear knowledge of NBEAC Performa 1 on Strategy, Performa 4 on Faculty and Performa 5 on Research & Developments and;
  3. Prepare well to start preparing to seek NBEAC accreditation of Performa 1, 4 and 5.

 

Objectives & Learning Outcomes: (Session 2 on 04th Nov, 2020)

Workshop Objectives: Proforma 6: Social responsibility

  1. To examine the schools’ role as an ethically and globally responsible organization; its contributions towards sustainable development initiatives.
  2. To review the policies of the community and social services and their practice for the welfare of internal and external communities.

Learning Outcomes: Proforma 6: Social Responsibility

  1. To develop an understanding of the statutory bodies approved policies and their application.  To use these documented policies for handling complaints of faculty, staff and students.
  2. How to document the use of these policies in processes and procedures of the schools’ activities with the evidence available to the stakeholders.
  3. Identify areas and ways of developing formal relationships with the social sector organizations.
  4. Design specific methods for impact assessment of community service and other social responsibility activities of the staff, faculty and students.

Workshop Objectives: Proforma 7: Resources

  1. To examine a school’s formal policy and process to manage financial resources
  2. To review a school’s budget in the context of its mission, vision and finally the percentage of its disbursement.
  3. To evaluate school’s physical resources, Ex: library, space and equipment to facilitate students, faculty and staff’s learning and working environment; to provide essential computing and other facilities.
  4. To establish the importance of services to a school, such as administrative functions and quality enhancement cells

Learning Outcomes: Proforma 7: Resources

  1. Gain knowledge for developing a formally documented policy and process to plan and manage the financial resources of the business school.
  2. Plan a budget that would be in agreement with the mission, goals and strategy of the school. It should be also in line with the requirement of external and internal audit systems.
  3. To formulate physical and service resources to conform with NBEAC standards.

Workshop Objectives: Proforma 8: External Linkages and Student Placement

  1. To evaluate and assess, according to the NBEAC framework, the importance of National, International and Corporate Linkages.
  2. Discuss the features of business schools’ placement office and its responsibilities to efficiently provide students’ internships and placement services.
  3. To identify ways to promote corporate linkages
  4. Discuss the proactive functioning of the placement office and its role to prepare students to acquire the needed skillset for internships and placements.

Learning Outcomes: Proforma 8: External Linkages and Student Placement

  1. List and plan areas of National, International and Corporate Linkages. Ways to keep the linkages live and active.
  2. Carve out a roadmap for National and International faculty exchange programs by exploring the pros and cons of diverse activities in this specific area.
  3. Go through a range of activities that a placement office can conduct to equip the students with the required skill sets to groom and prepare them for the industry.

Learning Outcomes of workshop on NBEAC Standards of Student, Curriculum and Admission & Examination


1. The workshop participants shall be able to understand the NBEAC requirements from Business Schools to have 1-Well-crafted policies 2-Objective oriented practices 3-Impact measurement arrangements and 4- Systems for corrective actions, in the following areas;

  1. Students:
    1. Students’ enrolments, progression in the programs & success percentage
    2. Availability of scholarship & financial assistance
    3. Academic & non-academic counseling as well as personal grooming
    4. Co- & extra-curricular activities and alumni association

  2. Curriculum:
    1. Curriculum alignment with vision & mission and HEC requirements
    2. Program design and synchronization of POs, PLOs & CLOs.
    3. Programs’ responsiveness to corporate and indigenous needs
    4. Focus on developing softer skills and different methods of course delivery
    5. Assessments and academic honesty

  3. Admission & Examination:
    1. Admission process, examine monitoring and administration

2. The participants of workshop will also be able to know the mechanism for Business Schools to develop policies, managing practices and running the impact measurements & corrective action systems in the above areas.

Notes:

  1. Workshop/Seminar Registration Fee: 7000 /-PKR.
  2. In case of replacements, transfer and refund, participant should officially notify via email/letter to NBEAC 10 working days prior to the workshop. After that NBEAC will not entertain any claims and changes.
  3. NBEAC may cancel or postpone a workshop/program due to insufficient registration or unforeseen** circumstances. In this case, NBEAC will refund registration fee but will not be responsible for any other related expenses including cancellation charges by airline and travel agencies.
  4. In case of postponement, the fee may be transferred to the rescheduled offering of that workshop or any other workshop as an alternate to refund. The NBEAC reserves the right to make changes in its program policies and fees at any time.

** If unforeseen circumstances occurs during the workshop and one day before the scheduled workshop, NBEAC will not refund the registration fee.

NBEAC successfully organized an online workshop titled “NBEAC Quality Standards 1 to 9” via Zoom. The workshop was designed by NBEAC’s experienced peer reviewers and trainers and divided into three sessions that were scheduled on three different days, in order to address the issues of the Business Schools in accreditation process and improve their understanding regarding accreditation standards and criteria. The trainers shared the expectations of peer reviewers and NBEAC throughout the accreditation process from a Business school. The trainers focused on the standards and criteria that were important for the quality enhancement of the business schools. A combination of peer learning and guidance by the trainers will help Business Schools in future to identify ways to improve and maintain their quality of education and making them qualified for NBEAC Accreditation.

Session 1 was conducted on 29th of October and delivered by Dr. Shaukat Brah, Dr. Syed Zahoor Hassan and Dr. Zaki Rashidi, and focused on three key areas of Strategic Management, Faculty and R&D. Session 2 was conducted on 10th of November and delivered by Dr. Hamid Hassan and Dr. Fouzia Ali, and focused on Standards; Students, Curriculum and Admission and Examination Policy whereas, session 3 was conducted on 13th of November and delivered by Dr. Naveda Kitchlew and Mr. Mohsin Nishat, with focus on Social Responsibility, External Linkages and Resources.

The workshop was attended by around 50 participants including Vice Chancellors, Deans, Directors, Department Chairs and Associate Deans and Professors representing different regions all over Pakistan. Feedback received from participants was fairly positive and participants learned a lot by clearing concepts about the standards of accreditation however NBEAC is further planning to conduct an in depth training of 9 forms of standards of accreditation so that more universities would be capable of earning accreditation of its programs ultimately achieving the goal of uplifting business education in Pakistan.
