Workshop - Challenging Role of the Business School Faculty in the "New Normal” 

Introduction:

The faculty is the single most important strategic resource of a business school. The quality and commitment of the faculty are important ingredients of a dynamic institution of higher learning. The faculty development program highlights the pivotal role of the faculty. Also, it offers suggestions on the three main responsibilities of a faculty member; teaching, research and service. This two day program offers guidelines for planning and development of faculty members and concludes with some thoughts on evaluation of the impact.

Course Contents:

  • The central role of the faculty;
  • The essential components of teaching excellence;
  • Developing a research culture and enhancing research productivity;
  • Planning for faculty hiring, reward, retention and development;
  • NBEAC standards of faculty, and research and development;
  • The impact of faculty on the students, business school brand and society.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the role of the faculty in a “Business School”;
  • Review the pedagogy and methodology in various degree programs to enhance the excellence in teaching;
  • Recognize the value of culture and resources to strengthen the portfolio and strategic research priorities;
  • Plan the faculty requirements for the strategic advantage of a business school;
  • Evaluate the impact of faculty contributions towards achieving accreditation and overall advancement of business school;

Who Should Attend:

Deans, Directors, Department Chairs, Associate Deans, Degree Programs Directors and Senior Business School Faculty Members. Ideally two to three persons from same institution should attend this program, including at least one senior faculty member.

Notes:

  1. Workshop Registration Fee: 25000/-PKR (Without Accommodation).
  2. In case of replacements, transfer and refund, participant should officially notify via email/letter to NBEAC 10 working days prior to the workshop. After that NBEAC will not entertain any claims and changes.
  3. NBEAC may cancel or postpone a workshop/program due to insufficient registration or unforeseen** circumstances. In this case, NBEAC will refund registration fee but will not be responsible for any other related expenses including cancellation charges by airline and travel agencies.
  4. In case of postponement, the fee may be transferred to the rescheduled offering of that workshop or any other workshop as an alternate to refund. The NBEAC reserves the right to make changes in its program policies and fees at any time.

** If unforeseen circumstances occurs during the workshop and one day before the scheduled workshop, NBEAC will not refund the registration fee.

Training and Development wing of NBEAC successfully conducted workshop on challenging role of the business school faculty in the new normal. Around 30 participants including Deans, HOD’s, Directors and Senior Faculty members attended the workshop. Dr. Syed Zahoor Hassan Syed-Professor & Former Vice Chancellor, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Dr. Shaukat Brah – Former Rector & Dean, Karachi School of Business & Leadership (KSBL) presented the role of the faculty in any institute and specifically the business schools, followed by challenges business education is facing and way forward. Workshop day one focused on role and significance of faculty, student’s development, institution, program development, new business model for business education, digital strategy, maintaining quality and integrity, followed by case method of teaching. Day two started by sharing the background of the service and student development, faculty development and retention followed by challenges and opportunities of accreditation and concluded with a healthy discussion on building of business school culture & brand and key ideas for follow up and implementation. The workshop was designed in such a way that it covered the basic literature regarding the theme including the practical exercises and case studies. Travel and team building activity was also the part of workshop and participants got the opportunity to visit historical and cultural sites of GB including Buddha Kargah, Forts of Hunza, Museums, Fairy Meadows and surroundings.
