Workshop - “Deans Development Program (DDP)” 

Introduction:

This training programme is designed to address a key gap in leadership and succession planning in higher education institutions, this training program is aimed at the development of new or aspiring deans of business schools. It will explain the skills that deans should ideally have as well as the challenges they are likely to encounter. Participants will learn about the key roles and responsibilities of deans and ways in which to manage these.

Learning Outcomes:

This training programme will help the participants to understand and learn:.

  1. Strategic management of business schools.
  2. Faculty management and development.
  3. Establishing and managing relationships with all stakeholders - students, parents, faculty, business, social community, and regulators.
  4. Ensuring the relevance and impact of business school for local organizations and community.
  5. Assuring leadership in teaching, research, service, and engagement.
  6. Managing change and motivation.
  7. Succession planning.
  8. Ethical leadership.

Who Should Attend:

The workshop is designed and relevant for the business school’s Deans, Associate Deans, Directors, HODs, and future Deans.

Notes:

  1. Workshop/Seminar Registration Fee: 40,000 /-PKR.
  2. In case of replacements, transfer and refund, participant should officially notify via email/letter to NBEAC 10 working days prior to the workshop. After that NBEAC will not entertain any claims and changes.
  3. NBEAC may cancel or postpone a workshop/program due to insufficient registration or unforeseen** circumstances. In this case, NBEAC will refund registration fee but will not be responsible for any other related expenses including cancellation charges by airline and travel agencies.
  4. In case of postponement, the fee may be transferred to the rescheduled offering of that workshop or any other workshop as an alternate to refund. The NBEAC reserves the right to make changes in its program policies and fees at any time.

** If unforeseen circumstances occurs during the workshop and one day before the scheduled workshop, NBEAC will not refund the registration fee.

NBEAC conducted Deans Development Program (DDP) on 28th and 29th of September 2022 at Skardu. Dr. Zahoor Hasan Syed and Dr. Jawad Syed from LUMS were the facilitators of program and it was designed to address the key gap in leadership and succession planning in higher education institutions. The program was aimed at the development of new or aspiring deans of business schools. It explained the skills that deans should ideally have as well as the challenges they are likely to encounter. Participants learned about the key roles and responsibilities of deans and ways in which to manage those.

Key takeaways of the programs were understanding the role of deans of business schools in strategic and operational aspects, faculty management and development, managing internal and external relationships, ensuring relevance and impact and managing challenges of change and growth.

The program was well attended and around 30 participants including business school’s Deans, Associate Deans, Directors, HODs, and future Deans were present.
