Objectives/ Purpose:

The main objective of the workshop is to motivate the Pakistani management scholars to publish in high impact factor journals. Additionally, this workshop will explain the complete journey of a paper, from conception of the idea to the paper appearing in print. The workshop will discuss the general guidelines for publishing in good quality journals, and will also consider the unique challenges when publishing work from Pakistan

  2. Understand the expectations of editor and reviewer
  3. Increase motivation to submit to high impact factor journals

NBEAC successfully organized two day workshop on “Writing for Quality Journals” on 9th and 10th of February 2018 in Islamabad Club. The purpose of the workshop was to motivate the management scholars in Pakistan to publish in high impact factor journals. The workshop discussed in detail the guidelines for a good quality journal and the challenges faced in the publishing process.

The workshop was attended by 42 participants from Business Schools all over Pakistan. The workshop consisted of detailed question and answer sessions, group sessions and intensive discussions.

The consultants of the workshop were: Dr. Mary Sully de Luque (Director Academics, Thunderbird School of Arizona State University) and Dr. Sadia Nadeem (Associate Professor & Director MARC, FAST School of Management, FAST NU, Islamabad). Both having an extensive background and experience in research and of reviewing high impact factor journals.

Day 1 of the workshop comprised of two detailed sessions. The first session was on the concept of quality in academic writing; followed by a session on editors and reviewers expectations. Interactive discussions and practical exercises were a major part of session two. Discussions on various topics related to research were made, cross cultural research along with cultural differences and its effect on publications were also discussed in detail. Ethical issues and dilemmas for the reviewers were also explained and discussed.

Day 2 of the workshop included sessions on the process of revision and resubmission and motivation and challenges regarding uniqueness of submissions from developing countries. The session was concluded with a detailed discussion on the uniqueness of topics from developing countries.
