The National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) successfully organized a two-day training program titled “Student Counselling by Faculty and Staff” on November 06–07, 2025 at SZABIST University, Islamabad.

The training brought together faculty members, academic advisors, student affairs professionals, and administrative staff from universities across Pakistan. It aimed to strengthen institutional capacity for providing supportive, non-professional counselling to undergraduate and graduate students.

This comprehensive program focused on developing participants’ skills in active listening, empathy, academic advising, emotional support, and the use of appropriate referral processes. The sessions also emphasized counselling within Pakistan’s cultural, ethical, and institutional framework, including Islamic values, family dynamics, societal stigma related to mental health, and adherence to HEC guidelines.

The training sessions were facilitated by Dr. Saqib Gulzar (Dean, COMSATS University Islamabad) and Mr. Mohsin Nishat (Group CHRO, Sarena Industries), whose expertise and real-world insights added significant value to the learning experience.

The program equipped participants to better understand their role in student counselling, identify and respond to common student challenges, apply ethical practices, and handle real-world student support scenarios through practical exercises. Participants shared highly positive feedback, acknowledging the training’s relevance and applicability to their day-to-day engagement with students.

NBEAC remains committed to strengthening quality standards in business education and supporting institutions in promoting holistic student development and well-being.
